Choi leads Lady Dawgs to second place at Central Region Spring Preview

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – SWOSU Women’s Golf finished second at the Central Region Spring Preview, despite entering the day with a seven-stroke lead. The Lady Bulldogs shot 314 (+26) as a team on Tuesday and were overtaken by GAC foe Arkansas Tech who outshot SWOSU by 21 strokes in the final round.

Gloria Choi tied for the individual championship and shot a 71 (-1) in her final round – the lowest score of any player in any round in the tournament. Choi finished with a two-over 146 overall score through two rounds and tied with Tech’s Peerada Piddon and UCO’s Anna Pool, who both also shot 146 for the event.

Eight strokes behind Choi sat Elin Wahlin, who was SWOSU’s second golfer on the leaderboard. After shooting a team best 74 (+2) on Monday, Wahlin ended with an eight-over 80 on Tuesday for a 154 (+10) overall score.

Emily Folsom carded an 80 herself in her final round and finished three strokes behind Wahlin for the tournament, while Chloe Thackeray finished one shot off of Folsom. Rounding out the team was Jenna Eidem with a 166 (+22) total through two rounds.

Arkansas Tech had four golfers finish within the top 10 at the Central Region Spring Preview and shot just five-over in Tuesday’s final round to collect the runaway victory.

SWOSU Women’s Golf concludes the 2017-18 regular season with six top-five finishes, including three second-place finishes and an NSU Classic championship. The Lady Bulldogs will now focus on the GAC Championships that will be held in Hot Springs, Arkansas at the Hot Springs Country Club on April 22-24.
