CASPER, Wyo. — The College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) kicked off Sunday afternoon, June 11, with the Bulls, Broncs, and Breakaway performance. All of the Panhandle State CNFR qualifiers made their first go-round runs and rides in the four events.

Leading the way was Junior Cody Ballard in the bull riding. Ballard rode Cowboy Time of Frontier Rodeo Company for 81.5 points. This ride landed him in the first place position for go-round one. Junior Will Martin got off to a solid start in the bareback riding. Martin rode Sweet Tea of Harry Vold’s for 78.5 points and ended up second in the round. Martin was joined by sophomore Dylan Riggins. Riggins made a solid ride on Painted Fudge of Harry Vold’s.

At the other end of the arena, women’s team member Randi Buchanan had a solid run in the breakaway roping. Buchanan, a senior, roped her calf in 2.9 seconds to finish 11th in the round.

Senior Josh Frost competed in the bull riding, but faced some tough luck as did junior Jake Finlay in the saddle bronc riding.

Slack starts Monday morning and will see several Aggies compete. A full list of results can be found at www.cnfr.com. Be sure to stay tuned to see how the Aggies perform the rest of week.
