ECU cross-country claims Missouri Southern Stampede title

JOPLIN, Mo. – The East Central University men’s cross country team had a strong showing at the 2015 Missouri Southern Stampede, finishing first out of 25 university teams.

Senior Juan-Joel Pacheco Orozco finished third individually in the 8K race in a time of 24:43.36. The Tigers finished the race with 121 points, three points in front of the second-place team Nebraska-Kearney. ECU competed against three other teams from the Great American Conference, with Harding taking fourth, Southern Arkansas 16th and Oklahoma Baptist 19th.

Senior Will Baldwin was the second to cross the finish line for the Tigers, completing the race in 25;07.91 and finishing 11th.

Junior Richard Mora was next in 35th (25:32.31), freshman Cole Montgomery was 38th (25:34.31), junior Adrian Guevara was 40th(25:38.25), junior Bruce Bragg, Jr., was 57th (25:52.62), junior Noel Figueroa was 115th (26:35.60), freshman Larry Filer was 130th(26:54.30), junior Tyler Baxter was 188th (27:51.37), sophomore Conrad Carbaugh was 196th (27:58.40) and sophomore Caleb Biles was 225th(28:54.26).

The Tigers will return to action, Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas.
