Coach Scott Hines:
• On the championship game
“Forgan, as a team, they were playing really, really well. Coach Kerr and his teams are always playing well at the end. And we were really fortunate to get a W against them. I thought my kids played really good throughout the state tournament and really, throughout the playoffs. We peaked at the right time defensively – I was really proud of that. It was something we had been preaching and talking about all year.”

• On his son and team this season
“It was really special seeing my son out there on the floor in the Big House after the championship.
“And this is a really close-knit group. It’s a really fun group to work with. These guys have been together their whole lives. They’ve played a whole bunch of ball together and to see all that work and dedication finally pay off was really satisfying.”

• On the future
“No seniors on this team. Well, we’ll see how that goes.
“But it should be another fun year. We should be a little deeper next year. We have some good junior high kids coming up that will join us and give us a little more depth. The junior high has won 51 in a row, so we have some good kids coming, so we’re excited about the future.”

• Was there a turning point in the season?
“I don’t’ remember thinking that. I’m not a Mr. Positive Guy. I’m always worried about how things are not going to happen.
“But I think that defensively things just started clicking, I’d say after we got upset by Lookeba-Sickles in the county finals. Probably that got our attention in that it was another small school that beat us. The only other loss we had was to 5A El Reno and I don’t know that that got our attention a little bit. It made us know we need to focus and bear down and get a little better in some things, so if there had to be one point, that would have to be it.”
