Lady Bison No. 23 in NAIA volleyball poll; beat SAGU and face WBU on Friday for SAC title

Oklahoma Baptist Bison

Oklahoma Baptist dropped two spots in the latest NAIA volleyball poll, but remain in the top 25 as the final week of the regular season rolls around.

The Lady Bison (23-10, 13-2) came in at No. 25 in this week’s poll, going 2-2 in the last week of October.

However, it should be noted that both losses were against NCAA Division II programs – Southwestern Oklahoma and No. 23 West Texas A&M.OSB-SAC-Small1

The week did showcase solid play from the Lady Bison, as was evidenced in the conference recognition.  Ezgi Guney was named Setter of the Week in the Sooner Athletic Conference and Valerie Stetzer was named the Libero of the Week.  It marked the fourth time this season for each to be honored with a weekly award.

Oklahoma Baptist won Tuesday night, 3-1, over Southwestern Assemblies of God setting up a big match in the season finale.

OBU travels to Wayland Baptist on Nov. 7 with the conference regular season title on the line.  And maybe a little more.

The Pioneers came to Shawnee on Oct. 10 and won 3-2, ending the Lady Bison’s 53-match conference winning streak.

The season finale gets underway on Friday at 7 p.m. in Plainview, Texas.
