There is a physical proximity between the Great American Conference, in its second season, and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association, a well-established league celebrating its 100th year.  And the members of these two associations are likely to meet often in inter-conference contests.  This is especially so with Oklahoma schools like the MIAA’s Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State and the GAC’s East Central, Northwestern, Southeastern and Southwestern having been conference rivals in times past in the Lone Star Conference and back in the day with the old Oklahoma Intercollegiate Conference.

A get-together like the Lady Blues Fall Classic sets the stage for some great crossover action for the two leagues.  The Fall Classic will take place Friday, Oct. 5, and Saturday, Oct. 6, at Lee Arena (Petro Allied Health Center) on the campus of Washburn University in Topeka, Kan.

The volleyball event, in its seventh season, this year features five teams from the MIAA and five from the GAC.  The GAC is sending by East Central, Harding (Ark.), Southeastern, Southern Nazarene and Southwestern.  The MIAA is represented by Emporia State (Kan.), Missouri Western State, Northwest Missouri State, Truman State (Mo.) and the host school Washburn.
