TAHLEQUAH – Following a three month self-study and holding two public forums on conference alignment, Northeastern State remains committed to the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), Director of Athletics Tony Duckworth announced on Tuesday.

“Following a comprehensive review of Northeastern State University’s athletics conference affiliation, it has been determined that the RiverHawks remain committed to the on-going relationship we have with the MIAA,” said Duckworth. “The MIAA best matches NSU’s sport sponsorship make-up, and student-athlete centered philosophy of healthy competition and access to championships at the conference, regional and national levels.”

“I appreciate the feedback Green and White Nation provided during this review, and I would like to personally thank Commissioner Racy for patience and understanding as NSU conducted this evaluation.”

“The data compiled during this process will serve NSU well should the landscape of conference membership within our region change in the coming years.”

Northeastern State has been a member of the MIAA since the start of the 2012-13 athletics season.
