TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State has been selected to host the 2019 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Central Regional Tournament fourth time in its program history.

The tournament is scheduled to be held on May 6-9 at the Muskogee Golf Club in Muskogee, Okla. Northeastern State last hosted the regional in 2015 and was awarded hosting duties for the South Central Region in 2003 and 2006.

“This honor is reflective of the great 20-year tradition of our program,” said head coach Scott Varner. “The work Matt (Cochran), Scott (Pettus), my previous staffs, and the host venues have put in to making these first class event worthy of NCAA Championships.”

“You need to have a great venue, a university staff that knows how to put on an event of this stature, and community resources that can support something this big.”

This is the third time the Muskogee Golf Club will host the NCAA Regional which they did in 2003 and 2006.  The historic course opened in 1907 and has hosted an assortment of events over its 110+ year existence including the 1970 U.S. Women’s Open.  Additionally, Northeastern State has hosted a yearly men’s tournament in the fall on the course.
