OU dances Tulsa two-step, beating TU, ORU in four-day stretch

Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma took down Oral Roberts, 85-53, on Tuesday night, just three days after winning at Tulsa, 87-68.

It is not often the Sooners take on in the same season all of the Division I programs the state has to offer – even if that number is only four, including them.

In fact, this is just the seventh time Oklahoma has both Tulsa and Oral Roberts on the schedule, dating back to 1976.  And the victories over the teams from T-Town aren’t just guaranteed to the Sooners.

This year marks just the fourth time to beat both in the same season.  The last time it happened was in 2005-2006.

And it is not the first time OU has played its in-state rivals so close together.  The Sooners beat ORU on Nov. 22, 2003, then won over Tulsa on Nov. 25.  Both games were in Lloyd Noble Center.

Buddy Hield led the way for the Sooners in the victory over the Golden Eagles on Tuesday.  Hield had 16 points and shot 60 percent from the field and from behind the arc, as well.  Ryan Spangler put up a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Oklahoma has three more games on the schedule before Big 12 play begins in 2015.  The No. 15 Sooners host No. 16 Washington on Saturday at 8 p.m.
