INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The first set of NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball regional rankings were released on Wednesday afternoon, with the No. 7/5-ranked SWOSU Lady Bulldogs currently sitting first in the Central Region with two weeks remaining in the regular season.

SWOSU (22-1, 17-0 GAC) is currently riding a 14-game winning streak after earning two conference road victories last weekend. The Lady Bulldogs are the lone representative from the Great American Conference currently in the Top 10 of the regional rankings. SWOSU is seeking their third appearance in the NCAA Division II national tournament after qualifying back-to-back years in 2013-14.

Directly behind the Lady Dawgs is Central Missouri of the MIAA, followed by three Northern Sun schools in Minnesota State-Moorhead, Augustana (S.D.) and Northern State. Four consecutive MIAA schools rank from 6th-through-9th in Nebraska-Kearney, Emporia State, Pittsburg State and Central Oklahoma before Wayne State rounds out the poll in 10th.

SWOSU has five games remaining in the regular season – all against in-state rivals – before heading to the Great American Conference Tournament in Bartlesville on March 1-4. The Lady Bulldogs have plenty to play for down the stretch as they look to wrap up their first GAC regular season championship while also contending to host the NCAA Division II Central Regional Championships – a right that goes to the top-ranked team in the final regional poll on March 4.

SWOSU Basketball fans have just two chances remaining to see the Lady Bulldogs at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center during the regular season, the first of which comes tomorrow night at 5:30 pm against Southeastern Oklahoma State.
