UCO volleyball ranked 18th in preseason AVCA Top 25

The University of Central Oklahoma volleyball team will open the 2017 season on Friday, Sept. 1 as the 18th-ranked team in the nation following the release of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason Top 25 on Monday.

Central Oklahoma is coming off back-to-back 30-win seasons. The Bronchos entered the AVCA Top 25 early in the 2015 season and have been ranked in every poll since.

Last season, the Bronchos earned their highest ranking in school history by reaching No. 7 in the country.

Edgar Miraku enters his sixth season at the helm for the Bronchos. Miraku is 126-42 as head coach at Central.

UCO opens its season on Sept. 1 with a double-header in Stephenville, Texas. The Bronchos play Henderson State and Texas A&M-Commerce. UCO’s first home match of the 2017 season is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 14 against Southeastern Oklahoma State as part of the MIAA/GAC Crossover.
