Shontice Simmons took over for Langston, scoring 25 points, as the Lionesses defeated Columbia (Mo.) 76-64 in first round action today. Although only two players scored in double figures, there were nine with at least four points scored. Langston will take on Biola (Calif.), who upset Lee earlier today.
Southern Nazarene fell to Xavier (La.) in the evening’s final contest, 74-67.
The Crimson Storm held a four-point advantage over the Gold Nuggets, but Xavier came out hot at the start of the second half. They took a quick lead they would not relinquish.
Four Storm players scored in double figures, including Oumoul Thiam and Logan Martin, who each had 14 points.
SNU’s season ends at 24-10.
