The field of 32 in the 2014 NAIA Division I women’s basketball tournament has been set and three teams from Oklahoma will be making the trip to Frankfort, Ky.
Oklahoma Baptist (28-5) earned an automatic bid winning the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament championship and is making its 16th appearance in the tournament. The Lady Bison are the No. 2 seed in their section of eight teams and meet Shawnee State [Ohio] (19-12) Thursday, Mar. 20, at 9 a.m.
Oklahoma City (22-4) was the regular SAC champion, finishing 18-2 in the conference and is seeking its seventh national title in its 20th appearance. The Stars are the No. 2 seed in the respective section of the overall bracket and their matchup means that at least one Oklahoma school won’t make it to the second round. OCU plays No. 7 seed Langston on Wednesday, Mar. 19, at 4 p.m.
Langston (20-12) received an at-large bid into the field and is in the tournament for the 11th time. The Lady Lions made it to the championship of the Red River Athletic Conference, and is one of four teams from the league to receive the invitation.
OCU and Langston are 42 miles apart and will travel more than 800 miles to play each other.
