LADY EAGLES FALL IN OPENING ROUND
The Oklahoma Wesleyan University Lady Eagles season came to an end as Indiana Wesleyan won 79-50 in the NAIA Division II National Tournament at Sioux City, Iowa.
The Lady Eagles had trouble shooting the ball as they shot 20 percent from the field and only 16 percent from the 3-point line. OKWU was out rebounded 51-38. Megan Jones led the Lady Eagles with 12 points while Nichole Tate added eight points. Lady Eagles finish the 2013-2014 season with a 22-12 record.
This was the team’s second straight appearance in the tournament and have gone 0-2.
EAGLES FALL IN SECOND ROUND
A quest for an NAIA Division II National Championship came up short at Point Lookout, Mo., as the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles season came to a close with a 87-75 loss to Indiana Wesleyan University.
IWU led most of the game as they took a 36-28 halftime lead, but outscored OKWU 51-47 in the second half to eliminate the Eagles.
Though the Eagles only committed just four turnovers in the entire game, IWU out rebounded the Eagles 59-27 and shot 47 percent from the field. The Eagles shot only 36 percent from the field and 31 percent from the 3-point line.
Tyler Woods led OKWU with 19 points while MCAC player of the year Devin Harris finished with 17 points. Phillip Jahn finished with 13 points while Josh Young added 12. All four of those players are seniors and played for the last time this season. The Eagles finished the season with a 25-10 overall record.
This was the fifth tournament appearance for the Eagles. They won the NAIA Division II National Championship in 2009.
