Possibly the most anticipated game in 2A football went down at Bulldog Henry Field as the Kingston Redskins took on the Davis Wolves.
The two southern Oklahoma high schools expected a high intensity game, for both were going into the match undefeated.  This game would decide the District Champions and the fate of the teams’ first round of playoffs.
The teams have had successful years, both led by powerful quarterbacks.  Davis’ Blake Summers has piled up over 1,300 rushing yards and 212 yards in passing over the quarterback’s senior season.  And as if showing their opposing strengths, Kingston’s junior quarterback Noah Hodges wrapped up his regular season with 511 yards rushing and 1260 passing yards.
The game that anticipated a crowd upward of 5,000 people was taken over by Davis early in the first quarter. Â After Kingston punted back to Davis after their first possession, Summers ran a 37-yard touchdown to take the lead two minutes into the game.
Kingston proceeded to enter red zone territory, but after a false start on fourth down, was pushed back to the 10-yard line where they missed the field goal attempt.  After that, the game was dominated by strong Davis offense as they finished the first half 44-0.
The second half was fast football as Kingston and Davis played no-huddle ball. Â Scoring once with less than a minute in the third quarter, Davis ended with a 50-0 victory over the Redskins and emerged district champions.
Kingston and Davis will have their first round playoff game Friday, Nov. 14.
