It is pretty impressive to earn the Learfield Directors’ Cup for excellence in an athletic department.
Winning the award in consecutive seasons is a statement.
The award is given to honor institutions achieving success in many sports, not just one. Â Oklahoma Baptist has just that and for the second straight year.
OBU earned 904.50 points and scored in the maximum 12 sports during the 2013-2014 athletic season.
Among the Bison achievements were:
National championship – women’s and men’s swimming and diving
National runners-up – women’s indoor track and field
Fourth – men’s indoor track and field
Fourth – baseball
Seventh – women’s cross country
Ninth – women’s tennis
Tenth – men’s golf
Tenth – men’s outdoor track and field
The Bison also earned a spot in the NAIA national tournament in both women’s and men’s basketball.
Oklahoma Baptist finished 141.25 points ahead of second place Oklahoma City University.
