HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The St. Gregory’s women’s golf squad claimed the first team win in program history Tuesday, taking the Midwest Invitational with a two-day score of 691. The tournament was played at Carey Park Golf Course in Hutchinson, Kan.
The Cavs’ total was 21 shots clear of second-place Bethany (Kan.) and 48 shots better than host and third-place Sterling (Kan.). SGU had finished third and sixth at its two other tournaments this fall.
SGU junior Taylor Greteman moved up one spot in the final round, finishing third overall with an 82-81. Greteman carded one birdie and nine pars Tuesday. She was three shots out of second and 16 back of champion Aspen Bryant of Bethany.
Freshman Rylie Eller began the final round in second place after shooting 80 Monday. She dropped to fourth, however, after finishing with an 88 Tuesday.
Alexis Tallant and Paige Johnson also turned in top 10 efforts, each carding a two-round 180 to finish tied for sixth. Baylie Keith rounded out the Cavalier competitors with a two-day total of 195 (13th).
St. Gregory’s concludes its fall season October 24-25 at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic. That event will be hosted at Oklahoma City’s Lincoln Park West.
