The Lions continue to steadily climb the national rankings.
With two more wins last week, Langston pushed its winning streak back up to four and has won 13 of its last 14 games. The Lions moved up two spots to come in at No. 11 in this week’s NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
It marks the highest ranking for LU in the NAIA national poll since the turn of the century.
Langston is now 16-4 and 10-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference. But the Lions’ next challenge is a tough one – on the road on Friday at the new No. 1 team in the country, LSU-Alexandria.
After reaching the highest point to date in the NAIA rankings, Mid-America Christian lost two of three last week and lost some ground in the poll.
The Evangels (17-5, 7-3 SAC) dropped five spots to No. 12 this week. They will try to right the ship against another Sooner Athletic Conferenc team that has made it into the top 25 – OCU.
Oklahoma City makes its NAIA poll this season at No. 25. The Stars were last in the national rankings in the final poll last year at No. 24.
OCU (10-5, 7-3 SAC) hosts MACU on Thursday in Abe Lemons Arena with the winner, at least temporarily, claiming sole possession of second place in the conference.
