Greenville, SC — The Mid-America Christian University men’s and women’s basketball teams are each ranked No. 1 in the latest National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Top 10 rankings, the organization released Tuesday.
The defending NAIA National Champion Evangels have been the top-ranked NCCAA squad from the start of this season, while the Lady Evangels began the year unranked, then jumped to fourth before securing the top spot in the poll this week.
The Evangels are 9-2 this season under second-year head coach Josh Gamblin and are coming off two Sooner Athletic Conference victories to begin league play.
Under the guidance of first-year head coach Hannah Moeller, the Lady Evangels have started the season 10-1 for the first time since joining the NAIA and are also 2-0 in the SAC.
The Lady Evangels are back in action Thursday evening (Dec. 8) in a showdown against NCCAA No. 3-ranked College of the Ozarks at 6 pm inside the Gaulke Activity Center. College of the Ozarks is also currently ranked sixth in the NAIA D-II coaches’ poll.
Both teams will then play exhibition games Saturday afternoon (Dec. 10) at the University of Central Oklahoma, an NCAA D-II program in Edmond, Okla.
The Lady Evangels play UCO at 1:30 pm, followed the MBB Evangels at 3:30.
