BARTLESVILLE – In a game that combined for 29 runs, Oklahoma Wesleyan was able to walk-off in the bottom of the ninth on a fielding error by Indiana Tech and secure a 15-14 victory.
Trevor Achenbach led the way for Oklahoma Wesleyan, as he sent his first three hits of the game over the left field fence. To go along with his three home runs, Achenbach recorded four RBI’s and five runs scored. Will Price continued to stay hot at the plate as he went 3-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI’s, and two runs scored. Alejandro Hernandez also added a home run after going 1-for-4 at the dish. Jalen Jackson finished the game with a 3-for-4 performance from the nine hole, while Chris Tapia went 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored.
As a team, Oklahoma Wesleyan connected for 16 hits in 39 plate appearances.
On the mound, Carlos Aldana made the start and struck out three batters in his five innings of work. Landon Williams, Lizandro Cruz, and Tyler Shumpert came into relief to close out the game for the Eagles.
With the win, Oklahoma Wesleyan advances to the championship game of the NAIA Baseball Opening Round at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17.
