OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City University volleyball team is teaming up with Witness Kicks to host a shoe drive before its match against Mid-American Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
The Stars are accepting new or gently used shoes of all styles and sizes. The shoes will go toward the Witness Kicks foundation, a Christian non-profit organization that has partnered locally and internationally with other organizations to provide the Good News and new shoes to more than 5,000 individuals.
“We are excited to host a shoe drive for Witness Kicks,” OCU head coach Jason Muñoz said. “We hope that our fans coming to the match are able to bring along a pair of shoes to donate.”
There will be a competition among the Stars to see which student-athletes collect the most pairs of shoes on the team.
Founded in 2013, Witness Kicks has helped provide shoes to people in 15 countries and four continents. They provide multiple avenues for others to get involved, such as Witness Kicks mission teams, youth groups, sports clinics and even basketball teams.
