PITTSBURG, Kan. – Senior Ricky Bell will race one more time in his career as he advanced to the finals of the 60 meters at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships set for tomorrow after earning the seventh spot in the prelims on Friday (March 9) at Robert W. Plaster Center.
Bell, a senior from McRae, Ga., tied the school record in his prelim race, finishing in 6.74 seconds, a personal best by .01 of a second. Running in the second heat, Bell placed third and ranked seventh overall based on time for the three heats to be one of eight student-athletes to make the finals.
Competing in the third heat, RSU’s Djiron Lilley ran a time of 6.89 seconds in his prelims of the 60 meters and missed the finals.
Mobolade Ajomale of Academy of Art ran the fastest time in the prelims at 6.60 seconds. Jonte Baker of Tiffin was second in the prelims at 6.62 seconds. Widchard Guervil of Tusculum was third at 6.67 seconds with Reginald Thomas (6.68) of Tiffin and Marcus Parker (6.71) of Eastern New Mexico rounding out the top five. NaRon Rollins of Pittsburg State (6.71) and P.J. Lotharp of Lenior-Rhyne (6.75) were sixth and eighth to complete the field for the finals.
The finals of the 60 meters will be on Saturday (March 10) at 5:20 p.m. at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kan. Live results will be available.
