CLAREMORE – The Rogers State softball team extended its winning streak to 18 games with a 3-1 victory over St. Edward’s in the final game of a three-game series at the Diamond Sports Complex. The Hillcats moved to 22-4 overall and 7-0 in the Heartland Conference as the navy and red swept the three-game series and won all five games against the Hilltoppers this season.
After the Hilltoppers opened the scoring with a solo home run in the second inning, the navy and red knocked out two home runs to earn the 3-1 win.
Freshman Tailee Reding gave the Cats a 2-1 lead in the third inning with an opposite field shot over the wall in right center. RSU added an insurance run in the sixth inning with a towering solo homer down the line in left field by Danelle Day, one of the longest home runs ever hit at the Diamond Sports Complex.

Alex Brake started in the circle for the second time in the series, going the first 3.0 innings with two strikeouts. She allowed one run on the solo home run. Reding picked up the win, moving to a perfect 7-0, as she went the final 4.0 innings with only two hits allowed and one strikeout.
