Today the OSN Spotlight, presented by Blackbeard Marine, shines on Becca Janka!
• Southern Nazarene cross country and track
• Hometown: Yukon, Okla.
• Physics major expected to graduate in May 2019
• Ran cross country and track at Yukon H.S. and at SNU
• Favorite teams and/or players:”Honestly, I don’t really have any. I don’t have a particular sport or team that I’d rather watch. Although I will say… Go Pokes!”
• Favorite sports moment – personal: “When our 4×800 team medaled at state in high school. And going to Cross Country Regionals in South Dakota. I got to travel with some of my team over a weekend to run at Regionals. It was so much fun to get to travel and grow together!”
• Favorite sports moment – overall: “I just love my team and I am so blessed that I get to train and better myself with such an overwhelmingly positive, uplifting, and fun group of people!”
• What do you like most about SNU? “I love that at SNU, you have a community that loves you, that cares about you, and wants you to excel both in and out of school. Professors care about you as a person, staff reach out to you and the students are upbeat and adventurous. And one of the things I love most is that the campus wants to help you build your faith and your walk with God, and you don’t really get that on others campuses.”
• Who do you most look up to? “I look up to a few people: my parents, some professors, and some of my friends and classmates. These people I know continue to show me what it means to be a Christian, what it means to love everyone, what it means to be hands and feet of God.”
• Goals: “I’m running my last seasons of cross county and track. I plan on graduating in May 2019 and I’m excited to see what God has planned for me after school!”
