LAWTON – Senior golfer Brittani Casement had a career showing for the Northwestern Oklahoma State University women’s golf team this week as she closed the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Tournament with a fifth place finish on Tuesday.
Already holding on to the top round in program history set last season, Casement fired a two-day total of 149 with a 74 in the first round and a 75 in the final round. Her total ties the two-day total school record set by Amanda Dixon in 2011.
The Wichita, Kan., native’s first round card is the second lowest round in program history, tying her with Dixon. Casement set the top single round score of 73 in the first round of the 2018 Henderson State Spring Invite in Mountain Home, Arkansas, in April.
In this week’s tournament, hosted by Cameron at Lawton Country Club, Casement finished with a one-under on par three’s, the second lowest total in the field. She also shot even-par on par five’s and had the second most birdies in the tournament with seven.
Northwestern finished the tournament with a 10th place finish with a score of 654 (329-325), ahead of Great American Conference foes Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello.
Oklahoma Christian’s Abigain Rigsby won the individual title in a playoff with Tarleton State’s Junie Khaw. TSU took home the team title at the event.
Senior Rylie Eller had a solid showing for the Lady Rangers with a score of 166 (82-84), and freshman Cassidy Pettigrew moved up 11 spots in the standings between the first and second round for a total of 169 (88-81).
Ashley Watts shot a pair of 85’s in the two rounds and Nikkole Donk rounded out the Northwestern scoring with a 94 in the first round and an 89 in the second.
The tournament concludes the 2018 Fall schedule for Northwestern.
