OBU Women Triumph 3-0 Against Wayland Baptist
Oklahoma Baptist improved to 2-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference women’s soccer action Thursday with a 3-0 win against visiting Wayland Baptist.
Shannon Griffith collected the shutout with eight saves on the afternoon.
Carley Sell scored from 40 yards out in the 15th minute to give OBU the 1-0 lead.
That lead held through halftime but Paula Vicenzo scored with an assist from Ailee Pewitt in the 56thminute to give OBU a little space at 2-0.
Elisa Brito iced the game with a long free kick for goal in the 86th minute.
OBU had 14 shots and put six shots on goal with Courtney Chambers getting saves against Brito twice and Pewitt once.
The Lady Bison improve to 4-5 on the season and have unbeaten Lubbock Christian in Shawnee Saturday at 11 a.m.
Wayland Baptist drops to 6-5 overall and 0-2 in the SAC.

Bison Fall to Wayland Baptist, 3-2
A late rally came up short as Oklahoma Baptist lost a foul-plagued game 3-2 to Wayland Baptist in Sooner Athletic Conference men’s soccer action in Shawnee Thursday.
The teams were whistled for a combined 53 fouls and eight cards were issued.
Wayland Baptist took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a header by Samson Defeugaing in the 23rd minute and that lead stood up through halftime.
The Bison tied it 1-1 when Arturo Rodriguez collected the rebound from a Pedro Pereira shot and scored in the 56th minute.
Pereira had a chance to deliver an OBU lead on a penalty kick but an athletic save by John-Ramses Thomas kept the score tied.
The Pioneers scored the next two goals – one each by Saman Hassan on a penalty kick and Travis Somersall.
OBU got within one late as Taylor Thompson scored in the 87th minute.
The Bison drop to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the SAC with a home game set for 1 p.m. Saturday against Lubbock Christian.
