Bethany, Okla. — After squeaking out a 90-87 win over the Southwestern Christian University Eagles in the 2012-13 season opener, the Mid-America Christian University Evangels made sure there were no dramatics in this one by routing the Eagles 83-55 at the SCU Classic tonight (Nov. 30) in Bethany, Okla.
The Evangels never trailed after the first three minutes of the game and led by as many as 28 in the second half.
Charlie Shorter led a balanced MACU scoring attack with a game-high 15 points to go along with four rebounds. Angelo Lewis and Reggie Davis each scored 12 points, with Lewis pulling down seven boards and Davis recording three steals. Josh Minner also reached double-figure scoring with 10 points and Josh Young grabbed seven boards.
Reggie Sloan was the lone Eagle with double-digit scoring with 10 points and also tied for the team-lead with four rebounds.
The Evangels (3-3) limited the Eagles to only a 30.2 percent (19-of-63) shooting clip from the field and forced 20 turnovers. MACU also held a whopping 54-41 edge over SCU on the glass.
MACU will continue action at the SCU classic tomorrow afternoon (Dec. 1) against Johnson & Wales (Colo.) at 4 p.m.
