The Sooner Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament field is locked in and ready to begin on Wednesday at the Noble Complex on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.
John Brown went 14-2 in the SAC and earned the regular season championship and No. 1 seed in the tourney. The Golden Eagles will meet the winner of Wayland Baptist and St. Gregory’s, who square in a first round matchup on Wednesday.
Oklahoma Baptist is the second seed. The Bison made it to the conference title game and national title game in 2012. OBU lost both, but is ready to go at it again. The Bison will meet Oklahoma City, a team it beat twice in the regular season by a combined eight points.
Mid-America Christian won the tie-breaker with USAO and is the No. 3 seed. The Evangel cracked the NAIA Top 25 this season for the first time in school history. MACU faces Rogers State in the SAC quarterfinal, looking for its third win against the Hillcats in 2013.
Rogers State has 20 wins this season and made it to the NAIA Elite Eight last year.
The USAO Drovers are the fourth seed and are paired with Lubbock Christian in the tournament. USAO is on a four-game winning streak, including a win over LCU to go with an earlier victory over the Chaparrals this year.
