On a beautiful day like today, baseball and softball are being played throughout the state. And with all of the rain that caused so many postponements and cancelations earlier in the week, there seems to be a myriad of games and makeup games to take place on this sunny afternoon.
Maybe too many games.
Oklahoma Baptist and Mid-America Christian haven’t had much luck getting their four Sooner Athletic Conference games in this week. Thursday’s single game at Shawnee turned into a Friday doubleheader due to rain.
With those two games in the books (two Bison wins), now the doubleheader between the two scheduled for today in Oklahoma City has been postponed due to a lack of available umpires.
Now there’s one you don’t hear too often.
It’s a great decision to make sure the games are called by qualified officials, and not just somebody to wear blue. However, it has to be frustrating that all of those people have been spoken for on this wonderful spring afternoon.
Here’s to a well-officiated, well-played and gratification-delayed twinbill on a Sunday afternoon tomorrow.
