NORMAN – The Sooners didn’t waste any time – or innings – to assert their dominance in the Norman bracket of the 2013 NCAA Softball Tournament.
Oklahoma run-ruled Marist, 17-0, in five innings Friday evening.
First team All-Big 12 and Big 12 Pitcher of the Year Keilani Ricketts picked up her 28th win of the season with just three innings of work in the circle. She and Michelle Gascoigne combined for the one-hit shutout.
Lauren Chamberlain, also a first team all-conference selection, had three hits, including a double and a three-run homerun, and five RBI.
The Sooners offense was as dominant as its pitching. Seven Sooners had hits and OU scored eight runs in both the first and third innings.
Oklahoma will next face Arkansas on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the winner advance to play in the regional championship. OU is 16-2 all-time against the Razorbacks.
