Hot Springs, Ark. – East Central couldn’t hold back a strong Arkansas Tech squad that was hungry to get back to the Great American Conference volleyball finals.
The Golden Suns eliminated ECU in three sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-20) on Friday.
Noelle Cope, one of seven seniors to finish her final game, registered 10.5 points on the afternoon, mainly on the strength of nine kills.
Fellow senior Danielle Essix was held in check following a great performance the previous day. She still came away with 17 digs, but had only two kills on 20 attacks.
Jessica Wilkerson, another senior, had 23 assists on the day.
After taking the first set through a tight contest at the outset, Arkansas Tech jumped to early leads in the second and third sets and moved on to its third consecutive trip to the GAC finals. ATU won the conference tourney in 2011.
The GAC Setter of the Year Amber Cerillos had 35 assists and five kills for the Golden Suns.
