◊ It’s Bedlam in Norman today as the women take to the court. OSU (18-2) comes in at No. 11 in the country, but is looking to stop a 15-game losing streak to the Sooners (13-8) on the road. However, the Cowgirls haven’t yet lost on the road this season (4-0) and are tied for the most conference wins (6) with Baylor and West Virginia. Game time is set for 2 p.m. on will be broadcast on FSN.
◊ Oklahoma’s men closed out January with four straight wins, and two were against ranked teams – then No. 12 Baylor and No. 8 Oklahoma State. Buddy Hield has averaged 16 ppg during this stretch. OU travels to Iowa State today at 3 p.m. for a rematch of the Jan. 11 contest in which the Sooners handed the Cyclones their first loss of the season.
◊ Oklahoma Baptist went a perfect 10-0 in January and are riding an 11-game winning streak, currently the longest in the state. It’s the longest win streak for the Lady Bison since 2009-2010 when they had streaks of 13 and 14 consecutive wins during the season. OBU (18-2) travels to Chickasha to take on USAO at 3 p.m.
◊ Mid-America Christian’s Semar Farris has been leading his team in a number of statistical categories as the Evangels continue to gain momentum in the one that counts – wins. MACU is 12-5 on the year and haven’t been beaten in the Gaulke Center (8-0), which is where they will start a three-game home stand today hosting Texas Wesleyan at 8 p.m. Meanwhile, Farris leads his team in points, assists and steals and is second in the NAIA in steals per game (3.3)
◊ Oklahoma Christian can’t play for the Heartland Conference title this year as the transition process into Division II continues. But it’s not stopping the Lady Eagles from making their presence known. OC has won five straight overall and six straight league games, is 7-4 in the conference and tied for fourth in the standings. The Lady Eagles (11-7) visit Austin to face, St. Edward’s, the team they are tied with, today at 1 p.m.
