The No. 1 Oklahoma Baptist baseball team defeated Mid-America Christian 11-0 in seven innings Saturdayafternoon at Bison Field.
The Bison (36-6, 16-4 SAC) are now alone at the top of the Sooner Athletic Conference standings.
Julian Merryweather improved to 7-2 on the season after pitching 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out nine.
OBU scored in every inning but the third, and jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the second.
Ivan Vela drove home the first run of the game for the Bison in the bottom of the first. Steven Knudson would score after Garrett Roberts reached on a walk with the bases full to put the Bison up two runs after the opening frame.
Following a sacrifice fly from Jeff Ricker to bring home Shakeel Newton in the second, two more OBU runs scored later in the inning on an error.
Catcher Mason Ankeney led off the fourth with a solo home run, and Matt Page hit a two-run home run later in the inning to put the Bison on top by eight runs.
Page was 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored, 2 RBI, and a stolen base.
Ridge Hoopii-Haslam led off the fifth with a triple, and was then sacrificed home by Ankeney for another score.
Ankeney finished 1-for-1 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI for the game.
Batting with runners on the corners in the sixth, Roberts doubled off the left field wall to score Page and Cory Faubel for the final runs of the game.
Frankie Wright pitched one perfect inning in relief for the Bison, and Brandon Willard finished off the game with a perfect seventh inning, striking out two.
OBU will host a non-conference game against Oklahoma Christian Monday at 6 p.m.
