Last weekend’s wild sequence of events in Division I football was evident in the latest AP top 25 football poll.
With five of the top eight ranked teams losing, it gave rise to new faces in the top 10. Â TCU and Arizona came from No. 25 and unranked, respectively, to supplant the teams in the top 10 that each beat on Saturday (TCU 37-33 over Oklahoma and Arizona 31-24 over Arizona).
The Sooners (4-1) fell to No. 11 this week and provided fodder for the national media throughout the weekend to speculate about which teams now have the inside track to be one of the four teams in the new playoffs system.
Oklahoma State was on the rise in the poll. Â The Cowboys (4-1) defeated Iowa State, 37-20, on Saturday and rose five spots to No. 16.
Florida State and Auburn finished last season in the top two positions and are back in that same place this week.
