Poor outside shooting combined with a Baylor block party on the inside doomed Oklahoma State on Monday Night in Waco. Baylor held off OSU, 64-54, as the Cowboys (12-5, 2-3 Big 12) have now lost all four true road games this season.
Le’Bryan Nash had a game high 24 points, including 10 during an 11-2 Cowboy run at the end of the first half as OSU went to the break up 28-27.
But Baylor’s A.J. Walton hit a three-pointer to open the scoring in the second half, putting the Bears up 30-28, and OSU would not have the lead again.
The Cowboys went 2-16 from behind the arc, but couldn’t find much relief with their inside game. The Baylor frontcourt of Cory Jefferson and Isaiah Austin combined for 11 blocks.
Marcus Smart and Michael Cobbins each had 12 points. Phil Forte had four points coming off the bench – the only points provided by the Cowboys’ bench.
Pierre Jackson had 18 points to lead Baylor (13-5, 4-1 Big 12).
Oklahoma State next takes the court on Saturday at noon as the Cowboys host West Virginia.
