Dale held Preston to shooting just 23.4 percent from the field and pushed through for the Mid-America tournament title on Wednesday.
In the battle of Lady Pirates, Dale came away with a 44-32 win and solidified its No. 1 ranking in Class 2A.
Dani Manning once again led the way on offense for Dale with 14 points. Hannah Ash had 11 and was the only other player on either team to score in double figures.
Manning also brought down 12 boards to give her a double-double on the night.
Preston’s Aiyonna Tecumseh hit three from long range in the first quarter to help her team to a 16-11 advantage after the first period. But she didn’t score again.
Dale’s defense locked in from that point, holding Preston to that same 16 points through the remaining three quarters combined.
It was the second win for Dale over Preston this year and the two could be setting up a third matchup late in the Class 2A playoffs.
Kelsey Johnson scored 32 points for Class 3A Washington in a 52-45 win in the third place game, handing Alva its second loss in as many nights.
