BETHANY, Okla. – Southwestern Christian University topped Jarvis Christian (Texas), 81-70, Tuesday at Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
The Eagles converted 22-of-30 from the free-throw line on the night, including 18-of-19 in the second half, and squeezed out the 11-point victory. The win moved SCU to 2-1 on the season.
Senior Rishawn Brown provided 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists to lead the SCU charge. Tyler Turner and Robert Rozim followed with 13 point apiece to help the Eagles’ cause.  Martin Matejcik rounded out SCU’s double-digit scorers with 12 points in 23 minutes of work.
The Eagles won the battle on the boards and outrebounded Jarvis Christian 44-36 on the night. SCU shot 42 percent from the floor and 31 percent from 3-point range while limiting the Bulldogs to 39 percent from the field and 25 percent from 3-point distance.
SCU will return to action against Bethany (Kan.) at 7 p.m. Friday at Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
