Greenville, SC – Another day, another player of the year honor for Mid-America Christian University senior guard Semar Farrris. Farris has been selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association Central Regional Player of the Year, the organization recently announced. Senior guard Reggie Davis was also a third-team all-region pick.
This award comes on the heels of Farris being named the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year and the OklahomaSports.Net Player of the Year.
The Ft. Worth, Texas native has the two highest single-season assist totals for MACU since joining the NAIA, with 173 assists last season and 163 dimes so far this year. He also joined the 1,000 point club earlier this season and currently has 1,220 career points.
The Ft. Worth, Texas native has been the catalyst this season in the Evangels capturing their first-ever SAC regular season title, posting team-highs in points (17.6 ppg), assists (163), steals (71) and threes (81).
Davis is a fourth-year senior with the Evangels and is tied for second on the team with 11.1 points per game along with 4.7 rebounds per game.
The Evangels are preparing to make their initial NAIA National Tournament appearance next Thursday afternoon (Mar. 19) against Xavier (La.) out of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
