Basketball season is almost here. Â The Great American Conference hosted Digital Media Days this year featuring online conversations with the women’s and men’s basketball coaches.
Here are some of the quotes from the event:
• “To try and not make ESPN in a negative way.”
SOSU men’s coach Kelly Green, on his goals going into the exhibition games against three Division I teams.
• “Moving down the bench from suggestions to decisions will be the biggest hurdle.  I feel very prepared for the job and I have a tremendous support team around me.  This team has had three coaches in three years, so everything is new to them.”
ECU women’s coach Matt Cole, longtime assistant at NSU, on his biggest challenge in taking his first head coaching position.
• “From a basketball standpoint, the biggest adjustment has been the depth of the conference. Each night every team in the GAC is well coached, talented, and prepared to play.  Through a 20-game conference schedule the depth of the league really stands out.”
SNU men’s coach Adam Bohac, on the biggest adjustment moving to Division II.
• “The impact will be big. Last year, at times it seemed like a neutral court because of our lack of practice time in the arena.”
SWOSU men’s coach Bob Battisti, on the impact on his team of playing a full season in the new arena.
• And possibly the best quote of the week:
“If you’ve ever been a parent, it’s like going from changing diapers to them being potty trained.”
NWOSU women’s coach Eric Bozeman, on what it means for his large group of sophomores to have a year of experience now.
