TULSA, Okla. – Five members of Oral Roberts University’s incoming freshmen class participated in the Oklahoma Coaches’ Association All-State Game, held Wednesday night at the Mabee Center. Jordan Gilbert and Jasauen Beard competed for the Large West team, which earned a 61-51 victory over Faith Ihim, Esther Udoumoh, Jordan Doyle and the Large East team.
Future Golden Eagles led both teams in scoring. Gilbert tallied 15 points on 5-for-9 shooting for the West team, while Ihim was the lone East player in double-figures, at 10 points.
Gilbert was named Game MVP by the Tulsa World after hitting a trio of three-pointers and grabbing four rebounds.
Udoumoh and Doyle each scored two points for the East squad, while Beard recorded six points, nine rebounds and two blocks for the West.
The five All-State players will be part of ORU’s upcoming preseason tour of Costa Rica from Aug. 1-10. The Golden Eagles will play two exhibition games on the trip as well as participating in mission activities, humanitarian service projects and sightseeing tours of the country.
ORU’s 2014-15 season begins on Nov. 1, with an exhibition game against Rockhurst. The regular season starts with a trip to two-time National Champion Baylor on Nov. 14.
