WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Rogers State dance team advanced to the UDA College Dance Team National Championship after a fourth place finish in a loaded field at the UDA College Spirit Camp, hosted by Central Missouri from July 29-31.
The Hillcats placed fourth in the Division II Open Division with a hip hop routine. RSU faced tough competition going against nationally ranked teams, including Northwest Missouri and host Central Missouri.
Nine Cats earned the Superior Award, which is based on their individual performance throughout the three-day camp. Junior Daysha Goins, sophomores Kelsey Eichelberger, Moriah Shelton, Abby Nofsinger, Hannah Rake, Lexi Holleyman and freshmen Abigail Welborn, Edie Titsworth and Allie Wallis received the honor.
“To receive these awards as a second year team is an amazing accomplishment for the RSU dance program,” head dance coach Amy Alt said. “It was so humbling and gratifying as a coach to watch my girls accept these awards knowing how hard they’ve worked all summer long. Also a big thanks to Teki Stewart for her choreography on this hip hop routine.”
The Hillcats travel to Orlando, Florida on Jan. 13-15 to compete in the UDA College Dance Team National Championships, the most prestigious college championship in the country. RSU will compete in the Division II Open Division, performing a hip hop routine.
