OKLAHOMA CITY – Rogers State softball (14-1) continued their hot streak with their ninth and tenth-straight wins against Southern Arkansas and Cameron, respectively, on the second day of the Edmond Regional Festival on Saturday.
GAME ONE – RSU 2, SAU 1 (9 innings)
The first game of the day was a classic pitcher’s duel with both starters working two no-hit frames to start the game. The Hillcats cracked the seal in the top of the third to go up 1-0. Chelsea Spain drove in Callie Yellin with a sacrifice fly to center.
The Muleriders knotted things at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth. A home run over the center field wall scored the run.
It would be three more innings before another runner crossed home for either team. RSU had two hits and stranded three runners over the next three innings, while SAU had three hits and left three stranded.
In the top of the ninth, the Hillcats would come through with the go ahead run to take a 2-1 lead. Rebecca Bellscored on a throwing error by the first baseman. The Muleriders went down in order in the bottom half to give RSU the 2-1 victory in extra innings.
Andrea Morales (9-0) continues to prove why she is one of the best in the circle by earning the complete game win with 15 strikeouts and only allowing four hits, one walk and one run over nine innings. SAU’s Kiana Pogroszewski (1-1) took the loss.
