Twelfth-ranked Oklahoma Baptist claimed a hard-fought victory over No. 11 Doane in the NAIA Volleyball Game of the Week Friday in the Hastings Quality Inn Classic, 3-1.
“We played really well as a team to beat a great Doane team,” said Lady Bison Coach Anna Howle. “It was a terrific, aggressive match for both teams.”
Kristin Pressley led OBU with 18 kills while Skyler Strahm added 12 kills, five blocks and four aces. Gabby Samuels came up with 12 digs and Sabra Clark had 41 assists. Carey Strong also had four aces.
“Skyler played great for us on both the blocking and attacking ends,” Howle said. “Sabra did a great job of distributing the ball and making our hitters successful. Kristin stepped up in every situation we needed her and attacked very smartly.”
Susan Rollman led the Tigers with 18 kills while Abby Sorensen tacked on 11. Karissa Blank and Desiree Erikson had 17 digs each. Miranda Wisehart had 42 set assists and two aces.
Both teams face No. 8 Grand View in second-day action Saturday.
