The Langston Lions have broken into the top 20 for the first time this season in the NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
LU jumps six spots to No. 17 in the rankings.
The Lions are now 6-3 on the year and have extended their winning streak to five with their 38-10 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God on Saturday.
Langston has clinched the Central States Football League title and can go undefeated in the league with a home win over Bacone on Nov. 15.
To be eligible for the playoffs, a champion in a certified conference must be in the top 20 in the final poll. With a win against WBU, Langston should maintain at least its spot right now or move up.
If the Lions win, the next stop should be the NAIA playoffs.
