Langston’s women are picked to repeat as the Red River Athletic Conference champions in 2012-2013. But the coaches think it’s going to be close.
The Lady Lions received 120 points in the preseason poll, one more than LSU-Shreveport at 119. Both squads garnered 4 first-place votes.
Langston is the four-time defending RRAC champion, but the program is under new management this season. David Johnson, a former Pepperdine assistant, was tabbed to lead the program in August.
The Lady Lions open the season on Nov. 3 at St. Gregory’s. The first home contest will be on Nov. 29 against Bacone, the only other RRAC opponent in Oklahoma, to begin conference play. Then it’s a quick turnaround as the Langston will travel to Shreveport to take on the Lady Pilots in a battle of the preseason conference favorites.
