Roberts Wesleyan pulled away from Mid-America Christian in the final minute to come away with a 90-86 victory in the first round of the NCCAA national tournament.
The contest went back and forth throughout and was tied 12 times before the sixth seeded Redhawks outscored the Evangels 8-4 in the final 46 seconds. Â The four-point margin of victory matched the largest lead of the day for RWU.
MACU (18-12), the No. 3 seed, drops to the consolation bracket and will compete for fifth place, which it won last year.
Semar Farris had a game high 22 points in the loss. Â Reggie Davis added nine more for the Evangels.
But MACU shot only 23 percent (3-of-13) from behind the arc on the day and 44 percent overall from the field.
