East Central head men’s basketball coach Rodney McConnell announced Monday that he is resigning to pursue other opportunities.
McConnell served as the interim head coach for the majority of the 2011-2012 season at ECU. The ‘interim’ tag was removed by the university on July 1, 2012.
The Tigers went 8-18 in 2013 and did not make the Great American Conference postseason tournament.
“We would like to thank coach McConnell for his service the past two years and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” said ECU Director of Athletics Jeff Williams. ”We are opening a national search for our next head coach, effective immediately.”

Thats great news! Its time for a coach with a proven track record and that can bring back that ECU basketball tradition!
It hasn’t been the same since Wayne Cobb left. Only one winning season in the last seven years.
