Happy Monday!
• Northwestern and Northeastern State earned victories on Saturday. This means that every collegiate team in the state now has at least one win! Congratulations specifically to Rangers coach Alan Hall on his first career win.
• Northeastern’s win over Central Missouri was significant for two reasons:
> It continues the dominance of the RiverHawks over the Mules. NSU has never lost to UCM. (8-0 now in nine meetings. NSU won in 1986, but that game was forfeited.)
> It also was the first time this season that an Oklahoma school has beaten an opponent from the Show Me State. We were 0-10 vs. Missouri in 2012 prior to this game.
• All three D-I schools celebrated Homecoming on Saturday and all three won. The Sooners blew out Kansas with no surprise. It was, on paper, an upset in Stillwater, but the Cowboys left no doubt which was the better team with a 31-10 victory over Iowa State. And Tulsa needed a late touchdown to come from behind to defeat Rice 28-24. The Golden Hurricane continues to roll with a 7-1 overall record and 5-0 in Conference USA.
