Happy Monday! Only eight days until Christmas!
• Oklahoma Baptist hasn’t played a football game in over 70 years and yet it seems like every former high school football player in the state in trying to find a way to get to Shawnee. In the last week, the Bison signed five more players. Coach Jensen apparently is building something big at OBU. The Bison are going to run out of two-digit numbers well before the first game is played on Aug. 31, 2013.
• The OSU Cowboys have been able to pull off good wins in the last two games. But for the second consecutive outing, Oklahoma State has gotten off to a very slow start. The Cowboys trailed Central Arkansas – Central Arkansas – 22-11 midway through the first half before rattling off 13 straight points to take the lead. The run would eventually go to 31-8 to close out the first half and take a 42-30 lead into the intermission.
The Cowboys wound up beating UCA, 91-63. OSU took out Missouri State, 62-42, in its last outing.
But you have to think that OSU can’t expect to be able to start that slow in the Big 12 portion of their schedule and come away with a win.
• I’m going to give a little love to my Seattle Seahawks. Yes, they have played a couple of terrible teams. But the ‘Hawks have put up 108 points in the last two games.
According to STATS, the Seahawks became just the third team to score 50 points in consecutive games. The 108 combined points matched the NFL’s third-highest total.
I just hope they don’t have to play the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the playoffs.
