• Central wrestler Chris Watson was selected the 2014-2015 Division II Wrestler of the Year. He overcame a life-threatening blood clot to go 42-0 and win the 165-pound national championship. Great story on BronchoSports.com about his year.
• Ready to watch the D-I MBB national championship game again tonight for the 33rd straight year. No, I haven’t been there for all of them, but I do have a TV. All the folks coming over will be cheering for Wisconsin (read here: anybody but Duke), and it should be a fun game. The general consensus around those coming to this gathering was that Kentucky would walk, and I don’t think we’re alone. But Wisconsin had a great game plan and Kentucky didn’t make the best adjustments. The Badgers were amazing on the offensive glass, also. The Wildcats had a great comeback late, as they always seem to do, and were 9-of-10 from the free throw line, but couldn’t get all the calls (yes, there were a couple of questionable ones in favor of the Badgers) and in the end 40 minutes was just too much.
However, 38-1 is not bad. No, IT’S REALLY GOOD! So Kentucky-haters should ease off tonight and just enjoy what should be a fun game to watch. Have fun and may the best team (hopefully not Duke) win.
• While we’re on the subject, keep in mind. If Wisconsin wins, the team will long be remembered. If Wisconsin loses, the memories of Saturday’s upset will be relegated to SportsCenter features.
